On Wednesday 29th January Alistair Henderson attended the first Career Ready mentor meeting of 2020 where Alistair met this year’s students from Queen Alexandra College, North Shields.
Career Ready are a national charity with the aim of raising young people’s skills and opportunities to allow them to reach their full potential regardless of their birth or background. Since 2002 they’ve worked to transform the lives of over 150,000 young people and boost social mobility of those aged 11-18. Statistics show that people born into a privileged or professional background ‘are 80% more likely to be in a professional job than their working class peers’, an imbalance that Career Ready work hard to change.
The initial meeting acted as an icebreaker, an opportunity for Alistair to meet other mentors and the mentees they would work with over the next academic year.
Alistair said, ‘It was great to meet the students, they made a great first impression and showed genuine drive. I’m looking forward to working with them this year to help them develop and pursue whatever career path they choose to follow’.
Identity Consult are proud to be involved in such a worthwhile scheme and look forward to our continued relationship with Queen Alexandra College and Career Ready.
