Work has started on the construction of a new £20m community hub in Trafford being delivered by THT Developments Limited on behalf of Trafford Housing Trust.
The project is the result of a partnership between Trafford Housing Trust, Trafford Borough Council and the Diocese of Manchester and involves the delivery of a health centre, pharmacy, community centre, library, nursery and an 80-bed extra care facility in one “community hub”.
To make way for the building, an existing church and rectory is being demolished and replaced with a new church and rectory on an adjacent site.
Identity Consult is acting as Project Manager, Cost Consultant and BREEAM Assessor for the scheme, which will be completed in late summer 2017, an extended build period resulting from the need to deliver the new church and rectory prior to commencement of the main hub building’s construction.
Pete Johnson, Director of Identity Consult, who is leading the project said: “This scheme is the result of the vision and ambition of Trafford Housing Trust to deliver a project which will make a real difference to the community in Trafford.
“It has been challenging throughout due to the complexity of the buildings themselves but also due to complex land ownership issues but the team have worked very hard together to overcome these issues and get the scheme on to site.”
