Description

Identity Consult were appointed by West Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Trust in 2005 to act in the capacity of Employer’s Agents and Cost Consultants for the development of a mixed use community and leisure building.

The 1800m² development delivered the following facilities:

  • Music Hall;
  • Music Studios;
  • Office Space;
  • Education Space;
  • Youth Centre;
  • Café;
  • Full Size Football Pitch;
  • Multi Use Games Area (MUGA).

The Main Hall was designed to be flexible with retractable seating to cater for a range of different events such as conferences, graduations and sporting activities.

Funding was obtained in 2005 from Barclays Spaces for Sports which was used to deliver the first phase which comprised football pitch and multi use games area. The second phase which comprised the main building was then delivered in 2010/11.

The budget for the main building was extremely challenging therefore Identity Consult carried out Value Tree and Value Management workshops early in the design process to establish the primary and secondary objectives for the project. This enabled a layout to be worked up within the available budget yet without compromising design.
