Identity Consult undertook the role of Project Managers, Cost Managers and Employer’s Agent for the National Glass Centre Phase 2 project.
We were appointed at the inception of the Two Campus Strategy project (February 2011) which was the master planning catalyst for determining a number of academic and corporate relocations, developed into a number of construction projects, of which National Glass Centre Phases 1 and Phase 2 formed part.
Phase 2 related to the redevelopment of a mix of academic, education and high quality conditioned gallery spaces with the project attracting funding from Arts Council England, Heritage Lottery Fund and a number of smaller trusts. Our project management commission was also extended to incorporate the management of the re-launch and re-opening of the National Glass Centre for festivals and exhibitions programmed in July 2013.
The project required very strict project and programme management in order to ensure that the University of Sunderland were able to comply with funding terms from both the Arts Council and the Heritage Lotter Fund, to achieve the funding targets and to not suffer any clawback.
The project was a success and the National Glass Centre continues to be a significant arts and exhibition space for the North East region.
