Description

Identity Consult acted as Employer’s Agent and Cost Consultant for the multi-phase regeneration of  the Bransholme Estate in Hull. Identity Consult were commissioned by Riverside who own the majority of the housing stock and land in Bransholme following a stock transfer from Hull City Council.

As part of the stock transfer process, Riverside made a number of commitments to regenerate the estate with Identity Consult initially working with Riverside and their appointed landscape architect to undertake an appraisal of available sites. Options were then prepared for each of these which range from small scale landscape improvements through to large scale development of housing.

Following consultation and a costing exercise to review viability, a regeneration framework was developed for the estate which set out a series of interventions across the estate which were supported by residents.

Identity Consult was then engaged to deliver the two phases of housing development within the masterplan, delivering a total of 54 new homes at a cost of £5.3m. All homes were delivered to a high sustainability standard, and to be resilient to flooding due to historic issues in the area through the provision of permeable roads and drives with significant amounts of water storage underneath which meant that the new development also protected existing housing in the estate.

Both schemes were delivered using a JCT Design and Build form of contract, with Identity Consult undertaking a single stage tender to appoint contractors for each of the two phases.
