Description

Identity Consult has worked with Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council to develop and deliver regeneration proposals for Redcar Town Centre.  Our involvement started with a commission to act as Project Manager and Cost Consultant for the development of a leisure led masterplan for the Coatham area of the town which sought to maximise the beach front location of the site through developing a watersports centre, hotel, and adventure golf course.

This role led to Identity Consult working with a design team to develop a wider Town Investment Plan, looking at wider regeneration proposals which, when delivered alongside the Coatham Masterplan, could help increase visitor numbers and spend in the town. This Town Investment Plan formed part of a successful bid to the Towns Fund, with Redcar securing £20m for a range of projects.

For both the Coatham Masterplan and Town Investment Plan, Identity Consult managed the design team to ensure commercially viable proposals were developed with demonstrable market demand; assisted with the development of Business Cases to ensure the project hit required BCR indicators, and provided comprehensive cost plans to ensure the schemes were affordable.

Following the securing of funding from the Towns Deal and the Combined Authority, Identity Consult has continued to work with the Council to deliver these regeneration projects including:

·        Regent Cinema – A new Council owned Cinema, built on the beach in the town, which delivered both early and under-budget;

·        Anchor – A new £10m development to attract new commercial and leisure activities to the town centre, as well as delivering a new community library;

·        Public Realm  – A major programme of public realm to improve connections across the town, and to establish a new events space to support existing retail provision;

·        Station Road – Public Realm works to this key route facilitating works for residential development;

·        Coatham Adventure Golf and Play – A new themed adventure golf course adjacent to a new playground to attract families to the previously under-used Coatham end of the town.
