Description

Identity Consult were appointed in 2017 by the University of Sunderland to Project and Cost manage the refurbishment of two separate buildings at Prospect Campus and City Campus. The two buildings house the student welcome, support, careers and administration facilities for the entire University.

The delivery of this project was in two stages over consecutive year summer leave periods so as to minimise disruption to staff and students during term time. A side project to refurbish and re-fit both café facilities was also carried out towards the end of the main construction period. The main contract included extensive AV upgrades and a video wall for the new facility.

Brims Construction delivered the Phase 1 works at Prospect Campus under a JCT design and build contract with great success. This resulted in the University making a decision to procure the second phase at City Campus under a JCT traditional contract, with a new University contract template and set of amendments being created especially for it.

The now opened facilities have proved hugely popular with increased used by all and a new dedicated external visitor reception has been provided at the City Campus; for wider business operation functions.
