Identity Consult, acting as Employer’s Agent and Cost Consultants, has successfully delivered a nineteen unit housing development for affordable rent at Bowker Street, Salford, Greater Manchester for Contour Homes Ltd, part of Symphony Housing Group.
The scheme includes twelve dwellings that will achieve the AECB Silver Standard Certification, a cutting edge approach to sustainability focussing on improving the U-values of the building fabric and air tightness.
In order to achieve this, Identity worked closely with an AECB specialist and the contractor to ensure that the AECB Silver Standard would be achieved through Contour Homes’ preferred fabric first approach.
Silver Standard properties are renowned for reducing carbon emissions by up to 70% and are expected to reduce total energy costs for new homeowners by an estimated £50 per month. The scheme is thought to be the first RP scheme in the country to achieve this standard.
Mark Edwards of Contour Homes commended IC: ‘Given the complex nature of the AECB Silver Standard design and construction phase we found Identity Consult to be extremely proactive and hands-on at managing risk, particularly around cost and programme. On site Identity got to grips with the challenging specification and worked with the contractor to deliver the project on time and budget. We would definitely recommend working with Identity.’
The timber frame constructed units were due for completion in late November 2014 and the client was happy to receive them over one month earlier on 27 October 2014.
