As the business has grown we have become involved on projects from as far north as Falkirk and as far south as Jersey but supporting our home city Sunderland in delivering its economic master plan remains very close to our hearts and we are delighted to be involved on a number of exciting new developments within the city.
We have been appointed as both Project Manager and Cost Consultants for the latest phase of the Sciences Complex refurbishment at the University of Sunderland. Having completed Phase I in 2010, Phase II extends the refurbishment of laboratories, teaching, social breakout and office spaces benefiting from HEFCE STEM support.
This £5.3m fast track project is aiming to be on site in June 2015, having started design in January. The refurbishment schedule is being delivered to suit the academic calendar, ensuring that teaching is maintained throughout the project and there is no negative impact on students.
Our work for the University also extends to the Centre for Enterprise & Innovation which has recently been granted both Planning and Listed Building approval.
This ambitious multi-million pound project will redevelop the Grade II listed former Gas Board building on Hind Street into a modern, four-storey facility for innovative growth businesses.
Funding for this project is via a number of sources including the Local Growth Fund promoted through the North East LEP. Work is expected to start on the refurbishment and new build extension in autumn 2015. Identity Consult have been appointed as Project Managers, Cost Consultants and BREEAM Assessors on this project.
Our involvement with the Foundation of Light continues with the submission of a detailed planning application for the Beacon of Light.
Working alongside award-winning architects, Faulkner Browns, plans for the Beacon are developing to house a range of uses including sports halls, outdoor soccer pitches, flexible learning spaces, health and wellbeing and education zones together with an Alternative Provision School. This inspirational multi-million pound building is due to complete in summer 2017 with Identity Consult providing Project Management, Cost Management and Principal Designer services.
Our growing reputation within Health and Housing has been extended with the completion of Seafarers Way, breathing new life into the listed Orphanage building with the creation of community facilities and the provision of a 38-bed specialist care facility which represents a £4.5m investment.
Identity Consult was instrumental in facilitating a public private partnership with investors, one of the first of its kind within the region to help unlock this development. Our involvement also extended to Employer’s Agent, Cost Consultancy, Clerk of Works and BREEAM assessor services.
Finally, our experience within the leisure sector is extended with our involvement in the re-development of Seaburn Shelter. A new Fat Buddha restaurant and bar will be created together with the provision of updated accommodation for the RNLI. Identity Consult is undertaking Employer’s Agent and Cost Consultancy services for this £1m scheme.
